Man, even though this was only a 4 day work week, it seemed to never
end. The training class was more of us socializing, although, amazingly
enough, we are right where we need to be. Maybe she factored in us
bullshitting a lot. The other guy in the class is really interesting.
He is 54 years old, and we all can just listen to his stories forever,
if you can believe that. He was, like many people his age, in Vietnam.
Anywho, he took the time at work to create some sort of computer link
with all of our training materials in it. It was very time consuming,
and he did not need to do it, but did it anyway. He would work on it in
between calls. Anywho, the IT department wont let him use it. He just
wants to share it with everybody. He doesn’t want any recognition or
even a promotion. He has just 5 years and 5 months until he retires and
said that he would be happy just staying in this same position the
whole time, but I think the IT department feels threatened by him for
some insane reason.
I did nothing tonight except watch tv. The Bulls game was entertaining,
especially since they won. I also watched some program on the history
channel about presidents. I found it interesting, although I might be
the only one.
This weekend is the 20th annual Cubs convention. I have always yearned
to go, yet have never had the chance. This year there is much talk
among the fans, players, and management about the whole Sammy Sosa
saga. The ironic part is that Sammy doesn’t want to be back, the GM and
manager don’t want him back, most of the players don’t want him back,
and the fans don’t want him back, but because of his contract, they are
stuck with each other. I still haven’t given up hope of them trading
him, but I know it is highly unlikely at this point.
