  • Mike Facts

I know a lot of people do the whole survey thing, but honestly, those have been done to death. And although I usually make them really funny, I’m pretty much done with those. And since I have some new readers, I figure I would do another post that revealed some little known facts about me. Such as:

    • My first car was a 1987 ‘Vette*
    • All my siblings and myself have birthdays with a 7 or 11, either the 7th day or the 11th day or 7th month or 11th……….well you get the idea. Now this might not be odd if there were only 2 of us, but there were 6 of us. My oldest brother’s DOB was 12/7, my oldest sister 11/5 (she just turned 50 last week!) next sister 7/25, next brother 5/11 and pulling up the rear is Mark and I, 10/7.
    • I’m pretty much an expert when it comes to old tv show theme songs. We used to go to a bar that had a tv show theme song contest and I used to win every time.
    • My sister’s exhusband once slept walked to the next town (about 5 miles) while they were visiting us about 19 years ago. Wait, that is too good of a story, I’m going to have to tell it in a post sometime.
    • I didn’t get my driver’s license until I was almost 22. It wasn’t that I did anything bad, I just flunked it the first time I took the test and then every time I went to the DMV after that was a nightmare in terms of even trying to take the test
    • I’m kind of a night owl. I’m often on here late which is why I post and comment later in the day.
    • My middle name is Richard which means that my initials are MRC or MR C.
    • I once refused to shake the hand of former presidential candidate Steve Forbes during the 1996 election. Three days later he dropped out.

So there, now you know just a little bit more about me.

*It was a Chevette. I can’t be held responsible if you assumed it was a Corvette.

  • Have you heard this story about the Michigan assistant attorney general who was targeting an openly gay University of Michigan student body president because he was gay? Let me give you a brief synopsis, since I know nobody is going to want to read the article from the link or watch the video.

So this now former assistant attorney general (he was rightfully fired yesterday) apparently was not happy that openly gay Chris Armstrong won election to student body president. And like most assistant attorney generals who are not happy with an elected student body president of a college, he created a blog, started protesting him and borderline stalking him by showing up at his residence at 1:30 in the morning. Geez, you would think that he dated him or something. He did a number of other things which include but aren’t limited to:

    – Calling the office of U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, where Armstrong worked, “in an attempt to slander Armstrong” and get him fired.

    – Trying to “out” Armstrong’s friends — some of whom were not gay — as homosexual.

    – Harassing Armstrong’s friends while out socializing in Ann Arbor, the home of the University of Michigan.

Yeah, that’s sane. Reaaaaaal sane. What kind of fucking adult becomes so preoccupied with a college student? Seriously, this guy really needs a girlfriend. Or a hobby. Or a stack of 1,000 page books. Or a gun. Wait, scratch that last one, the last thing he needs is a gun. But he needs something to occupy himself. What a total fucking loser.

I first heard about the guy last week on The Daily Show. You can check out the video right here:

    http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/mon-november-1-2010/look-who-s-stalking

I love the name of the piece. Gosh The Daily Show is so fucking funny.

Perhaps you want to read the article from CNN. Well, it is here:

    http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/11/08/michigan.asst.attorney.general/index.html?iref=allsearch

Either way, this guy is a fucking nut. I would put big money on him being gay though. Shit, just listen to him talk.

  • Commercially Annoyed

I really want to beat the shit out of a baby. I mean, really just pound him into oblivion. Yeah, that’s right, I’ve got one in mind. It’s that really fucking annoying talking E-Trade baby. Come on, I know people agree with me. I’ve written about this before, how much I hate talking babies and animals, especially when it comes to commercials. For some reason, not only do I find this really annoying but I also find it really stupid. Fucking stupid. Seriously, who comes up with this shit?

Another annoying trend with commercials is when they take an established song and change the lyrics to fit to whatever it is they are advertising. I’m not sure when it started, but I think it was most prominent with NBC’s Sunday Night Football when they took Joan Jett’s “I Hate Myself For Loving You” and changed the lyrics to revolve around football. Yes, because nothing says I hate myself more than watching football on NBC. The latest one is how UPS has ripped off “That’s Amore” by Dean Martin to the tune of something about logistics. Logistically speaking, it fucking sucks.

People always complain about how rappers sample songs and use them however they please. And also people complain about how Hollywood has run out of ideas and they resort to remaking movies or just making the same movie over and over but just with a different title i.e.  War of the Worlds, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Independence Day, Signs, Cloverfield and now Skyline. Yeah, they are all pretty much the same movie, aliens attack Earth, humans fight back and blah, blah, blah, I stopped paying attention somewhere after the opening credits.

    Is there any originality left?

  • Sick Of It All

Are you like me, are you sick and tired of the election? As you might know, I’m a very political person; I don’t just follow politics, but I also have contacted my representatives and senators and because of this, I’ve been getting multiple phone calls and mailers everyday and I’m glad its finally over. But that being said, I’m still going to post about it.

I wish I could stop caring and therefore, stop paying attention. I’ve never been a conservative or Republican in the least, but prior to 2004 I would at least consider Republicans. But, during the election of 2004, because of George Bush using the wedge issue of gay marriage to help himself get reelected, I swore off Republicans forever. Now don’t get me wrong, I’ve always known the Democrats were inept, mostly corrupt and incompetent along with many other things, but they were not Republicans. That being said, a few hours after I wrote yesterday’s post, the story about “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” broke: the ruling throwing it out had been overturned on appeal. I was FUCKING PISSED. In a way, I had reached my breaking point with Democrats as well.

In spite of the fact that Barack Obama spent his entire campaign and much of his term as president stating he wanted to appeal DADT, he decided to appeal the ruling that would have ended the unjust policy, stating that he instead wanted to have it removed by Congress, which is code for “I want Congress to do it so that I can take credit for it”. Well, now the Democrats might very well lose the Senate and with it, a chance to remove the policy. This is simply unforgivable, both as a homosexual but also as a patriotic American.

Although I voted for every Democrat on the ballot this morning, it wasn’t because I supported them; it was because I loathe the Republicans and just about everything they stand for. Although I consider myself a liberal, I stop short of calling myself a Democrat. And after the DADT debacle, I’m questioning how I can continue to support the Democrats.

I’ve always known an overwhelming majority of politicians on both sides are crooks and no good. I’ve sided with Democrats for many reasons, like fact that I agree with just about all of their policies. Oh, and unlike Republicans, they don’t hate gays……………or at least they pretend to like them by pandering to gays. But, my liberalism goes far beyond gays. I’m also for the environment, for full universal health care for all, for higher taxes on all and even higher on the rich, for more government programs to help people, for the right to choose, whether its abortion or the right to die, and I’m pro science. Some people would call me a bleeding heart liberal, I prefer to call myself a common sense thinker.

I’ve realized that if you strip away their beliefs and policies, Democrats and Republicans are no different. I can’t hide from this fact any longer. Deep down, I have always known this, but I have always stated that Democrats are better than Republicans because they have the best interest of the American people at heart. But, there is no longer any sense in denying the truth: they are all the same.

Because of Obama’s handling of DADT (and he is not the only one on this issue, soon to be former Senator Harry Reid deserves a huge chunk of blame too) and the Congressional Democrats impotent handling of health care and the environment and the entire Democratic party’s general pussiness, I’ve become extremely disillusioned with them. I no longer can say that I will definitely vote for Obama when he runs for reelection. I’ve always said that politicians have to earn my vote, even if they are Democrats. It is frustrating because in spite of it all, Obama still has been the most gay friendly president we have ever had. And there is still no other party to turn to, at least not for me.

The Democrats are desperately in need of their own Tea Party. A party that first and foremost puts the environment as its top priority and says a big fuck you to the establishment and corporations. There does need to be a massive shake up and it certainly is not by putting right wing nut jobs back in charge.

I understand now more than ever why people grow apathetic to politics and voting and instead decide to ignore it all and turn a deaf ear to all of it. If only I could turn it off and stop caring. If only there was a politician or party out there that gave a shit.

  • GET OUT……….

……………and vote! Just in case you have been living in a mine in Chile for the past three  months, let me remind you that tomorrow is Election Day. I’m sure most of you who read this (meaning both of you) already know that I’m a die hard, flaming liberal. And while I think most of the people who will come across this post will probably be liberal as well, this isn’t about liberal or conservative or Democrat or Republican. It is about getting out and exercising your right and in my opinion, duty, to vote.

I think a lot of people take voting for granted, but let us not forget that this is not a right that we have always had. Keep in mind that there was a time in this country not so long ago when females could not vote. Of course, blacks have not always had the right to vote either. I believe I read somewhere that there was a time in America that only rich, white, males had the right to vote. But, now suffrage has been opened up for everybody. Did I  use that word right, suffrage? Look at me, I can attempt to sound educated! Anyway, I digress. Everybody has the right to vote, unless you are a convicted felon, which might not be a bad thing since most jailed felons are busy being imprisoned.

I know a lot of people are frustrated with politics and are rightfully very apathetic to politics and elections. I too share an extreme frustration with politics. But you know what, it is just too important to turn my back on. As citizens we are in charge of putting the people in place to help fuck up our country and that is a duty we should take seriously! If you are going to vote you should at least be somewhat educated on your choices and while that might take some time to learn about the candidates and offices , I would strongly encourage you to learn as much info as you can. Be care where you get your info though because there is a lot of complete bullshit on the internet, one site that is good is http://realclearpolitics.com/ which does give you a lot of info, but in my opinion is it non partisan.

Now reading all this politics bullshit can be very boring. This is why I recommend the internet, that way right after reading you can go straight to the porn as a reward for suffering through the mind numbing drabble that is politics. Hell some people might even be turned on by politics, after all there are a lot sexual scandals that people try to cover up.

Regardless of who you vote for, the important part is that you get out and vote and make a difference. And who knows, maybe you can have an October surprise right there in the voting booth with the hot election judge! Okay, just kidding, its November and therefore it would be a November surprise. And election judges are never hot, but hey, sex in a voting booth is still sex!
