Snow? What Snow?
You may have heard on the news that we here in Illinois are having what can only be described as a “minor snow disturbance” in that we expect to get 15-20 inches of snow between today and tomorrow to go along with the 40-60 miles per hour wind. Wait, I’m exaggerating a bit. Currently the wind is slightly blowing from the northeast at 38 miles per hour. Wow, if only I was able to drive that fast when coming home from work today maybe it wouldn’t have taken an hour and 20 minutes.
Of course, with a blizzard baring down on Chicago, people most people basically react one of two ways. They either panic or freak right the fuck out which is pretty much the same thing as panicking only with more cursing. I’ve been putting in 12 hours a day at work so today I got there about 6:30. The snow was supposed to start at 3 and it was right on time. At my company, it is unheard of for the office to close for anything, unless the power or water is out. Well, lo and behold, they actually closed early today at 4, which is 2 hours earlier than normal. And tomorrow is up in the air as well. I’ve got my fingers crossed!
So I got home from work all excited to finally use the new snow blower in a real snow storm. And let me tell you, it was fucking cold as hell out there with the wind whipping up. I had on a thong and sandals. It seemed to do the trick. So I went outside to blow the snow. I had trouble getting the damn thing started and finally got it going and went to turn the damn thing to move out of the garage and it died out. I looked down and noticed the key was missing. Long story short, when I let go of the rip cord it broke the key off and part of the key was stuck in the ignition. The damn thing still started though and worked like a charm, I sooooo loved it. The only problem was that I was unable to turn it off. I had to go into a large bank of snow to get it to stop. With another 10-15 inches supposedly yet to come, it better be working tomorrow, after all it is brand new and I’ve only used it one other time. Oh well. If I need a snow blower maybe I will just give Charlie Sheen a call.
Oh, just checked the wind again. It’s at 47 miles an hour right now.
