  • For some reason, the AC is working again. I left it off for a few hours
Sunday night and things were fine. Whatever. Just keep working, damnit.

Last night's episode of 30 Days was good, but not as good as the
previous 2. In this episode, 2 city slickers had to live in an
extremely eco-friendly community. Of course, this made me think. As far
as political issues, I have really let the environment go by the
wayside. It used to be my number one issue, but other social issues
have moved to the forefront. I still feel it is very important, though,
however, the people in this community took it a bit far. I mean,
recycling your own shit? I think I would have to draw the line there.
Honestly, good for them, I'm glad they are willing to make sacrifices
for the earth, I'm just saying I wouldn't be willing to crap in a
bucket and save it, thats all. Still, more people need to recognize the
way they live and the choices they make have serious consequences on
the earth, in particular, the use of gas. When I went shopping for a
car over 4 years ago, I wanted a car that got good gas mileage, mainly
because of its effect on the earth. A lot of people drive SUVs with no
regards for how it might affect the environment. Now, some people have
got legit reasons for the larger vehicles, such as having a family. I
can accept that. But, there are too many people driving too much with
these gas guzzlers. People complain about high gas prices, but I for
one, am ok with paying them. Sure, for my own selfish reasons, I want
gas prices to be lower, but that helps me and not the world as a whole.
The higher the prices, the more likely people are to try to find other
means of transportation or drive less, which in turn is better for the
earth. Its also good because if less people drive, thats less support
of foreign oil, but thats a topic for another day.

We are to a point where the earth is starting to be affected by our
over-use of oil. We need to take measures to wean ourselves off the
oil. As I learned in last nights show, (and as I have read in other
articles over the past year or so) there are other alternatives to oil,
its just a matter of it catching on. Of course, the oil companies don't
want us to use those other sources, but sooner or later, we won't have
a choice. Before I got laid off last year, I was looking at buying one
of those hybrid cars. I can't afford it now, but the next time I buy a
car, it will be a hybrid.

As for the show, these tree huggin' earth lovers were waaaaay out
there. So much so, it would frighten the anti-environmental people, or
make others that are on the fence lean towards the anti-earth people.
These earth hippies have to try not to come on too strong to others, as
it can alienate people and hurt their cause. On the other hand, I bet
they grow tons of pot there. I picture them spending most of their days
stoned out of their minds. Damn, that really makes me sound like a
    stoner.
