  • Today, Lance came by to drop off some Simpsons toys that he and his
wife no longer wanted. I like Lance, he is a good guy. The thing that
drives me nuts about him is that he is so bitter. So pissed off. I
mean, the dude hates everything. I just don't get it. I don't see him
all that often, once every few months. But, he takes issue with just
about everything that is fun. I know he tries to
be........er..........different. He doesn't like to like the popular
things. Nothing wrong with that. But, he just seems to really be so
bitter towards things. I hope he loosens up some and allows himself to
have a good time. He has always been like this to an extent. Its just
that back in the day (I have known him since high school) he used to be
fun to be around. Its not to say he isn't fun now, but he
just.........he thinks everything sucks. Still, I like him. He is a
    good guy and very loyal.

Tomorrow, Ryne Sandberg goes into the Hall of Fame. This is so cool.
When I first started watching baseball, my favorite player was Larry
Bowa. After he was let go by the Cubs, I liked Ryne Sandberg, that was,
until Andre Dawson came to town. Its great to see a player I liked a
grew up rooting for, getting into the hall. I was watching these
specials today and they were showing old Sandberg highlights and it
really brought back a lot of memories. Its all so nostalgistc (spelling
please), being able to look back on his career. Of course, being a Cubs
fan, there wasn't a whole heck of a lot of winning or good times back
then. But, its still cool to see him get in. I loved watching him play.
I just wish I hadn't embarrassed myself when I met him.

I don't know if any of you have heard about this, but 2 teenagers in
Iran were publicly executed for being gay. I'm so troubled by this. It
really makes me appreciate America, for being more free than Iran.
Sure, I can complain a lot about America's attitudes towards gays and
gays not having rights, but for once, I want to just appreciate America
for being more open towards gays then, say, Iran. Although we still
have a long way to go, its good to know that people in America can't be
legally killed for being gay. On the other hand, I can't  help but
think of those 2 poor kids in Iran. Its not their fault. I hope if
there is an afterlife that they are living in peace. It is very
disturbing that there are still countries and societies in the world
that HATE gays soooooo much, that they will execute gay teens. Its also
frustrating that there is not a damn thing that we can do about it. Its
sad, the levels of hate that certain people have for other groups of
people, such as the hate  some Muslims and  Jews have for
each other, the hate some whites have for blacks, and the hate
everybody has for gays. If there is one group of people that unites
Christians, Jews, Muslims, blacks, whites and racists, its gays. They
all hate gays. They don't seem to understand or want to understand that
we don't have a choice in being gay, just like they don't have a choice
in being straight. Yet, they unite on the anti-gay front. If if weren't
for the Jews, gays would be the most hated group of people on the
planet. And to be honest, its pretty close, you can even make a good
argument that we are more hated then Jews. I understand the hate. Most
of it is fear. Fear of the unknown. A lot of it is religon. Their
religons tell them that being gay is wrong, so they interpret that as
"God hates gays" and "gays are going to hell" and "there is no bigger
sin than being gay." Just when I think we might be making some progress
in this world, something like this (the teens in Iran) happens to
remind me of how far we have to go. Or, you get evil Republicans trying
to take away gay rights, such as the anti-gay discrimination laws, you
know, because we deserve to be discriminated against. Because, they
have the right to judge us and tell us how we should be living our
lives. Shit, convicts have more rights then us. They can at least get
married. Although, I do believe we have come a long way, we are
teetering on losing it all, and taking many steps backwards. Over the
course of the next year, there is a very good chance that there will be
2 more Christian conservatives appointed to the Supreme Court. This
very well could affect things more than we could ever imagine. And with
the Christian right becoming more and more powerful, all that we have
gained over the last 20 years could not only all go away, but regress
to the point that its even worse then before. And for what? Because
    they can't accept us.
