  • Its been an interesting couple of days. Last night I met a girl who’s
soon to be ex husband not only works at my job, but also graduated high
school with me. I didn’t really know him in high school and I have
never even spoken to him at work. But, fuck, what a small world. One of
his best friends is another guy I went to school with who I long
suspected of being gay and as it turns out, he is sorta bi. I was
always very attracted to him, now if only he wasn’t a coke addict.

Today at work, we got our long awaited bonuses. My bonus was very good,
but to be honest, I expected that much or close to it. We were told a
couple of months ago we would be getting a bonus in February or March
and to be honest, I was started to get worried that we would not get
it. This led to a rather embarrassing moment in front a the guy that is
our equivalent of president. As we were talking about bonus, I said
    “I’m
so going to go to the track this weekend” just as Mr president dude and
his kid walked by. He quickly said “no, don’t do that” to which I
responded “no, of course not, I’m not going to go” which is the
truth………..at least for this weekend. Also at work, there is this
guy that I have been very attracted to since he started over a year
ago. He is on a different floor in a different department and to be
honest, I don’t see him too often. Well, today his mistook me for
another FLAMMING gay guy in my department. I don’t know if this is good
or bad. See, its bad because he didn’t know who I am. On the other
hand, he might have thought I was gay, which is good if he is gay
(which, I’m about 96.35874523% convinced he is straight). The thing is,
I’m not a flammer in the least, in fact, for lack of a better term, I’m
pretty damn straight acting (I hate that term).

To celebrate our bonus, we ordered pizza from Giordano’s today. The
whole thing was my idea and I got 8 other people in on it. Now, being a
call center we have scheduled lunches which we have to follow. So, I
always try to order the pizza so that in arrives in between people’s
lunches. People wanted to order at 11 in the AM, but I talked them into
ordering at 11:30, with the hope that the pizza would be here right
about 12:30. They told us 60-75 minutes, which is reasonable especially
since one of the pizzas was a deep dish pizza (if you don’t live in
Chicago, well, you are missing out). By 12:45, people were getting
antsy, so one of my co-workers called the pizza joint at 12:50PM. They
said it would be 15 minutes. Ok, I can live with that………a little
late, but still reasonable. I went to lunch at 1PM and called them at
1:10. Instantly I was placed on hold. After 5 minutes, the dude came
back to the phone and was very apologetic about the wait for the pizza.
I calmly asked him what he could do about it and he said “it should be
here any minute and we are terribly sorry about this, it will be on the
house.” That was much more then I expected since it was $40 worth of
food. He explained that they had a driver that had worked there for 5
years not show up to work today. I felt bad about all of this, because
the whole pizza thing was my idea and I talked my co-workers into
ordering later then they wanted. All of them kept asking me where the
pizza was and I just didn’t have an answer for them. Finally at 1:40PM,
with 5 minutes left on my lunch, no, the pizza didn’t arrive, but
instead, I called AGAIN and although still calm, I was frustrated and
told the dude to be realistic with me and honest and tell me how long
it would be. He called the driver and he said he was about 4-5 minutes
away. Finally, at 1:50, a full 2 hours and 20 minutes after
placing the order, the pizza arrived. I walked to the reception desk
and gave the driver a $10 tip and took our now free food back to our
desks to eat it. I know what you must be thinking, why give a driver
that was over an hour late a tip. Well, all I can say is that it wasn’t
his fault that the other driver quit and he probably had been getting
verbally abused by every person he delivered pizza to. My co workers
and I all agreed that he deserved a tip and we all agreed to give him
$1 each. Shit, we are all in customer service, so we know what its like
to be verbally beat up by customers due to things that are out of our
control. Plust, it also helps that we all had gotten our bonuses today
and were all in pretty good moods. And, we all agreed that we would
still order from Giordano’s again sometime. I can forgive them, after
all, its pretty damn hard to stay mad at Giordano’s.
