The Funniest Man In The World?
For years I have always been a huge Seinfeld fan. And I mean years. I saw my first episode I believe inabout 1991 and was hooked. It remains to this day my second favorite show ofall time behind of course, The Simpsons.I know Seinfeld is not everybody’s type of humor, but I think it is brilliant. And a big reason why it was so funny and perhaps the greatest television seriesof all time are because of one Larry David.
Since Seinfeld,Larry David has made a movie, Sour Grapes, which I never saw but always wanted to. But, what he is mainly known for rightnow is his HBO show that started in 2000 called Curb Your Enthusiasm. Now I know it is not everybody’s humor as alot of people would just be outright offended at him, but not me, I love thedamn show. Not only do I love it, but I believe it is the funniest show on t.v.
So that is a pretty bold statement. I guess I should giveyou some background on the show. Larry David plays, well himself, albeit a verypompous and extremely socially retarded version of himself. Along the way, hegets into all sorts of disagreements, misunderstandings, and fights (somephysical, all of them verbal) with any number of famous and non famous people. The show is littered with appearances of celebrities who play themselves. Muchof the conflict is exaggerated and overblown, but damn near all of it is funnyas hell.
What makes it much more impressive is that for the mostpart, the entire show is adlibbed. Larry David comes up with a basic outline ofthe show, but all of the conversations that the characters have is completelymade up on the spot. The mere fact that it is so fucking funny is a testamentto the talent, imagination, and comic genius to David and the others on theshow.
So with two of the funniest and greatest shows of all timeunder his belt, one has to wonder if Larry David is the funniest man in theworld. I know that sounds crazy especially to somebody who hates Seinfeld andLarry David, but consider this for a second, how many people can honestly saythey have created two series that were this successful?
As for me, I can’t get enough of the show. I have beenwatching it for several years now and have seen just about every episode, but Ijust recently bought seasons one and two and it never fails to crack me rightthe fuck up. And that song from the show is so damn catchy that it gets stuckin your head for days.
Of course, I have always suffered from bouts of socialineptitude at times myself, so much that people have often times called meGeorge Costanza (the Seinfeld character whom was based on Larry David) or Larryhimself. Perhaps that is why I can often times relate to him and also find himfucking hilarious.

Never seen it. Not a big Seinfeld fan either. I can handle the Simpsons in small doses. I can’t think of anyone I would readily call the funniest person in the world.
Your space bar fighting back?
yeah, i wrote it in word and cut and pasted it. I don’t know who I would call the funniest person in the world to be honest; I mean its not like there is a way to measure it, you know, like with athletes
LOL, I was wondering about the space bar myself!!! I ADORE Seinfeld, watch every rerun I can find, own some seasons on DVD, quote it constantly… I have never seen Curb Your Enthusiasm, though… I don’t have HBO, but maybe I need to watch some. I think it is on Netflix, if I’m not mistaken…
Seinfeld is one of the reasons I went out on the “blind” date with Monkey the first time. We had a major connection over Seinfeld when we were talking… I can’t remember who made the first reference, but the other got it without pause and it was on after that! His fantasy football team actually has Costanza as a profile pic. LOL.. “The jerk store called, and THEY are out of YOU!” hahahahahahaa
yeah you really need to catch it, if you love Seinfeld then you more then likely will love Curb, especially if you love George.
